25th July Milano-Firenze
Our trip started waking up very early in the morning for taking a train at 6:20 from Como Borghi station to Milano Cadorna. In Como we can use two different train companies to go to Milano: the national one trenitalia and one regional that is called Ferrovie Nord Milano. We chose the second one, because I live very close to one station; otherwise we had to walk till Como San Giovani Station which is pretty far away.
At 8:15 am out Intercity train left from Milano Centrale to Firenze S. M. Novella, it took three hours and a half, but the train is very comfortable, just too much cold because a very high air conditioning.
From the first second we realised that Florence was really hot and full of tourists. We went towards the river Arno because our hotel was exactly in the river side with its windows looking to the river and just a few meters away from the famous Ponte Vecchio.
Luxury location and a great hotel. We were really very comfortably, because our room was not small and we had air conditioning an a TV with international channels (so, much more that what we have here in Como!)
After resting a bit, and waiting for a summer storm to pass, we went out to discover Florence, the center, the great Duomo (see the two pictures below), Piazza della signoria. The Duomo of Florence is my favourite, at least from outside, because of the different. Milan’s one is also great, and the interiors are the amazing.

But going back to Florence, it is very “Italian style” but with a special charm added, besides the rich richness.

One more picture of the river side, I love this kind of pictures!

Galleria degli uffizi (wiew from the river)

Palazzo Vecchio tower in the back
The afternoon, after hours of stroll around, finished in a typical Italian trattoria to taste the Toscana cuisine . And, in the night, a drink in the banks of the river Arno, while enjoying the night view.

Hello!!! First of all, beautiful pictures of Florence you have posted!!!
I have a question, I understand that you lived in Anzani 37 this year, how was it? I chose that option because it was the cheapest and closest one to the campus. The question is how did you manage to access the internet? Is there a wireless internet service in Como, did you sign a contract with the telephone company to get internet service or what did you do?
Best regards!!!

It was ok, it has a lot of advantajes, for example you cannot be closer to the university, you will get into the class within a minute, also the price, as you say. On the contrary, as the time was going by, I found it was a small place for 3 people, that is why for my second year in Italy I would like to move to a more confortable appartment. Anyway, do not worry because I still think that it is a good choice. For the internet, besides the computer room that there are in the university and in Pannilani (where you can always find a computer to access internet), if you want internet at home you have to contract it personally, and make a private contract with some provider. Unfortunatelly there is not wireless internet service in Como.
Hello! Thanks, I also like these pictures very much.
Right now I am writing you from Anzani 37 your future home
Greetings, I am looking forward to meet you here in Como!

Due to the fact that there is no wireless internet service in Como, would I have to contract the internet along with the telephone line or do the Anzani 37 flats come with telephone line?? (Did I made myself clear, jeje). Is Pannilani’s computer room open to all students or only to the ones living there?

Anzani 37 flats come withouth telephone line, but after living students for the last year, most of them have the internet connection. So, you can be “lucky” and be allocated in a flat with internet or telephone. But the basic empty appartmente doesn’t have anything.
